You Don’t Have To Hustle

The phrase “hustle harder” triggers me on so many levels. I would be okay with it if I didn’t see you so defeated, completely depleted, and second-guessing yourself all the time.

I would be okay if you were 100% sure the voice telling you to hustle harder was from Jesus and not from the fiery pit and your misplaced self-worth.

I would be okay with the word “hustle” if I didn’t see you attaching your identity to what you produced today.

I would be okay with it if I saw joy radiate from your tired eyes. But, that’s not what I’m seeing.

I see people working so hard and running on empty. I see people sacrificing their mental health because they are hell-bent on hustling to prove their worth to people who are super hard to please.

Your intentions are so noble, I see you putting forth effort and doing your best. But, I wonder if you lay your head down on your pillow at night and ask yourself, “Is this it?”

It’s not. There is so much more to life than the grind.

Could you rest and take a breath? Maybe figure out what needs to be on your plate and what needs to be removed in this season? The try harder, do more mentality is the most unholy hustle of them all. Busyness does not equal holiness. If the price is your health, family, and life… the cost is not anywhere close to holy. It’s just unhealthy.

I think we’ve become martyrs in the name of time-management, and it’s KICKING our tails. There is only one of you and you only have one body… are you taking care of it? Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit not just another cog in the wheel that spins and takes us nowhere.

What if we pray and forgo the slay part until we have what matters most in perspective?

If you are feeling burnout, what is one step you can take today to make the changes your heart needs?

Pace yourself because this world needs what you have to offer. You are so much more than what you checked off your list today.

So much love to you,

Jennifer Renee

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Cor 6:19-20)
